Boston-based artist Robert Kraus (1850-1901) created two versions of the bust of Paul Revere, one with a tricorn hat and one without. This piece is a reduction of the original work. A mention of one of Kraus's sculptures in The New York Times in 1899 noted that his Paul Revere bust was based on Gilbert Stuart's portrait of the Patriot. Several monumental sculptures by Kraus grace the Boston area, including the Boston Massacre Monument.
