Once attributed to Raphael, the piece's origin is now unclear. The consensus among art historians today is that it was sculpted in the 17th or 18th centuries. In the past, however, two other Renaissance artists were considered as being the creator: sculptor Domenico del Barbiere and wax sculptor Orsino Benintendi. According to the website of the Palais des Beaux-Arts, it has also been suggested that the face was an impression taken of a dead woman found in Rome in 1485. The original is made of wax and terracotta and is polychromed.

Note that an oversized item – typically an item weighing more than 150 pounds when packaged – will not populate a shipping rate because it may have to ship via a freight carrier. Items must be opened and inspected within 48 hours of delivery to report any damage.
Returns are not accepted; all sales are final as pieces are made to order and hand cast.
